Draft for a reflection on - who you are

On communications, aggregation of inputs, and how to separate data from signal. Ft. 37signals. This is a draft for a potential article.

Situation

A company publishes an openning. And they get 1.4K applications. And they know that they did a good job with their job post too, and they are special, so they have faith they have lots of good people trying to join they. Let us say 100%. But sadly, all of them explaining who they are through writing. And, as we know, writing is subjective. Yet, what they have are résumés.

Complication

A lot of them seem good. Should we look for signals? Well, who is going to be the brave to institute that. How to do it? So yes, there are us trying to separate noise from signals. And there are signs. Let's then look at a post written by Jason the CEO of 37signals:

He provoked an audience in his LinkedIn, he started with "How do you stand out?" in front of others. Then he suggested, or revealed to us that one in many had done something different:

"Here's one way: Found this gem of an inside joke on one of the applications. Spot it?"

And he adds:

"He may get an interview just for that."
